The eighth season of the Sandbach Concert Series draws near, based in the heart of the historic market town of Sandbach. Each concert features talented local young musicians in a 30 minute spotlight concert followed by a one hour concert by professional musicians.

On November 29th, saxophonists Amy Green & Charlotte Harding perform with pianist Christine Zerafa. ‘Over 100 Years of Women and The Saxophone’ is a project that celebrates the pioneering female saxophonists, composers & bandleaders integral in developing their instrument, their art & their profession.

On September 24th 2017, American trumpet soloist Rex Richardson will be giving the Japanese premiere of Andy Scott’s ‘Freedom of Movement’, performing with the Symphonic Winds Tokyo in Shibuya, Tokyo
The concerto was written for Rex last year and the title 'Freedom of Movement' refers to a freedom of musical expression and versatility that the soloist is given within this continuous 15-minute work.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Saxophony (a sax ensemble based in Winchester) Andy will be taking part in a Saxophone and Flute recital together with Clare Southworth (Flute), Ian Clarke (Flute) and Rob Buckland (Saxophone) on Saturday 23rd September.
There will be a Flute day on Saturday hosted by Clare and Ian and a Saxophone Day with Rob and Andy on Sunday 24th.

Andy Scott’s new piece for clarinet ensemble, Momento was commissioned by the South Tyrol Clarinet Ensemble & the British Clarinet Ensemble. Momento is a six minute work that pays homage to Monk, Ella and Dizzy, three jazz legends who share 1917 as their year of birth.
The world premiere takes place on Monday 4th September 2017, 20:30 in Drescher Kellen, Kaltern, Italy, and will be performed by the combined forces of the South Tyrol & British Clarinet Ensembles.
The UK premiere by the British Clarinet Ensemble will take place on Saturday 21st October 2017 in Oakham School Chapel. More details to follow…
