On 17th / 18th February 2018 – In association with The Manchester College Jazz Department, JazzSmart hosts a two day saxophone workshop, that is aimed equally at classical and jazz saxophonists, led by Andy Scott, assisted by James Rawlinson & Andrew Blee. Building & developing ideas from the inaugural course at Manchester College in February 2017, Andy will use his vast experience of planning and directing saxophone workshops to strike a balance between using written material, using our ears, and embracing a musically open-minded philosophy. Time will be spent rehearsing as; one large group and smaller groups, with a great rhythm section joining us on the Sunday afternoon. Options will be available in sessions 2 & 3 on the Saturday; Andy will lead a masterclass that is aimed at more classical saxophonists, you are welcome to prepare a solo piece or a quartet may play, whilst those more interested in improvisation may work with James (intermediate/advanced) & Andrew (beginner). “James is a fantastic musician; a wonderful performer and teacher! His knowledge of improvisation and jazz, coupled with his teaching experience, means that we may offer you options throughout the weekend. Andrew studied with James & then went on to complete a degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Chichester. JazzSmart is directed by James & Andrew, and I’m delighted to collaborate with them both!” Andy Scott For more details, and to book a place online please go to the Jazzsmart website HERE
