Success in the Woodwind Section of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition

Congratulations to young Saxophonist, Jess Gillam on her success in the Woodwind Section of the BBC's Young Musician of the Year 2016 Competition last week.

Jess, who is a member of the Junior RNCM, gave a stunning performance of "Fujiko", one of Andy Scott's compositions which was televised on BBC4 last week and gained her a place in the Final of the Competition to be held in May.   

Andy comments:  "I am delighted for Jess, she is a very talented player and she works extremely hard and I am particularly proud that she chose to play one of my compositions.    I wish her every success for the final."

This is the first time a Saxophonist has been part of the final line up of the competition.
