Andy will perform in the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra in two concerts with Gwilym Simcock as soloist next month.
The performances of Gershwin’s popular, jazz influenced piano concerto Rhapsody in Blue will take place at Symphony Hall in Birmingham and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October respectively. This will be part of a Desert Island Discs themed programme, featuring a selection of the most requested classical pieces from the famous long running BBC radio show.
Andy Scott recently joined Gwilym Simcock for a live performance on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, in which they played Andy’s gentle and contemplative Whisper Goodbye. The work was written for Gwilym Simcock and Rob Buckland, and Gwilym also features as special guest on the SaxAssault CD Sax of Gold, performing the same piece with Rob. Andy and Gwilym were both recipients of a prestigious New Music Biennial commission in the first round of the new funding scheme this year.
