Clare Southworth (flute), Lauren Scott (harp), Andy Scott (saxophone)
Caliente was formed in 2011 and showcases Andy Scott’s work as both composer and performer. A unique trio with a line up of flute, tenor saxophone and harp, the ensemble’s repertoire spans four centuries and many genres. A typical concert programme features arrangements of pieces by Bach, Ravel and Piazzolla as well as original works by Andy, composed specifically for the group.
All three musicians are highly experienced performers & educators (Royal Academy of Music, Royal Northern College of Music), and offer educational workshops linked to a performance, including music from The Bad Tempered Flute CD - the music of Andy Scott.
Clare Southworth is a highly successful prizewinning performer, teacher and author, internationally acclaimed as one of the leading flautists of her generation. Clare is in great demand to present concerts, masterclasses and workshops around the world. Her flute has taken her to Europe, America, and Japan and she has performed as guest soloist for the American, German and British Flute Societies. She is renowned for her innovative programming, embracing a wide repertoire that encompasses both traditional and non-traditional genres, and for her ability to combine performance with tuition at the highest level.
Lauren Scott is an experienced solo, chamber and orchestral musician based in the North West UK who, over the last 20 years, has worked as guest principal harp with many of the UK's leading orchestras & chamber groups. Lauren has performed at major festivals including Edinburgh, Cheltenham and the BBC Proms, played in West End shows, and appeared in venues as diverse as the Tower of London and HMS Illustrious.
