Love Music Trust (the music hub for Cheshire East) in conjunction with Foden’s Brass Band and members of Love Music Trust Academy, Poynton, Macclesfield, Lions and Foden’s Youth Brass Bands, with students from Haslington Primary School, gave the world premiere of Brass Revolution at Birmingham Town Hall on 4th July 2018 as part of the Music for Youth National Festival.
A commission from composer/saxophonist Andy Scott, Brass Revolution is an explosion of sound and colour with young brass players improvising their way onto the stage, before embarking on a journey that pays homage both to the brass band tradition and jazz, rock and funk grooves associated with the 1960’s and beyond!
Brass Revolution celebrates youth and music, with an attitude (via narration, singing & playing) and message that ‘we (the younger generation) will be heard’. Funky grooves merge with slow melodies, hard-hitting horn lines are juxtaposed with delicate smaller ensemble work.
Scored for youth brass band, with additional ‘wider opportunities parts’ and ‘easy parts’ Brass Revolution is an 18-minute continuous work.
