A three movement work that is scored for two euphoniums, two tubas and drum kit. Written for Tubalate and commissioned by Richard Philips and Stratford on Avon Music Festival. The World Premiere was given by Tubalate & Ben Gray on Wednesday 20th October 2004 as part of the Stratford on Avon Music Festival.
‘Bite the Bullet’ is influenced by the music of New Orleans, jazz and funk. Often punchy and direct, with a no messing attitude, the character of the piece is influenced by groups such as Young Blood Brass Band.
