Yasushi Arai

Currently teaches at Showa Academia Musicae, Junior college course of Showa Academia Musicae, Tokyo Music & Mediarts Shobi, and the music classes at Komoro High School, Nagano Prefecture; Acts as the solo concert master of Sièna Wind Orchestra; and performs as member of Trouvère Quartet. Studied saxophone with Kenichiro Muto, Keiji Shimoji, and Yuichi Ohmuro.

1965     Born in Gunma prefecture in Japan
1986     Won the first prize in the Wind and Percussion instruments division in Shobi Musical Competition.
1987     Won the 2nd place for the Saxophone division in The 4th Japan Wind and Percussion Competition
1989     Graduated from the diploma course of Tokyo Conservatory Shobi; Won the Akamatsu award

Received the Encouragement Award in Tokyo International Music Competition for Chamber Ensemble (as Trouvère Quartet)

1992     Won the 2nd place in Tokyo International Music Competition for Chamber Ensemble (as Trouvère Quartet)
1995     Won the 5th Japan Band Music Academy Award (in the Performance division) (as Trouvère Quartet)
2000     Released his debut solo CD, "Fantasia" (Meister Music)
2001     Trouvère Quartet 's CD, "A Homage to Marcel Mule" (Toshiba EMI) won the Grand Prize of 2001 National Arts Festival by Agency for Cultural Affairs
