Leonie Schaller - Biography - WTSC
Leonie Schaller, born 1978 in Pinnenberg, Germany began playing the saxophone at the age of eight. She studied with Leo Van Oostrom at the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, Holland and Prof. Daniel Gauthier at the Conservatory of Cologne, Germany. In The Hague she also studied classical guitar and clarinet. She has performed on master classes with Arno Bornkamp, Marcus Weiss, John-Edward Kelly, Kyle Horch, Jean-Ives Fourmeau and Christer Johnsson. Leonie Schaller is a member of the award winning Python Saxophone Quartet (Vandoren Contest 2002) and the Ardey Saxophone Quartet, subsidized by the Menuhin Foundation. With Python she performed in the critically acclaimed Zuid Hollandia produced opera Inanna, written by Louis Andriessen in 2003. She is also a member of the Schallspiel Ensemble, Cologne. Constantly in touch with new music she has been working with composers such as Louis Andriessen, John De Simone, Alejandro Castanos and Pete Harden. She has made concert tours in Holland, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. Leonie has performed with various ensembles on radio and TV. Leonie Schaller has been performing with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Residentie Orchestra of The Hague, the Beethovenhalle Orchestra Bonn and the Staatstheater Braunschweig. |
