Dark Rain World Premiere

Edinburgh University Symphony Orchestra commissioned a full orchestral version of Andy's British Composer Award winning piece 'Dark Rain'!

On Friday 19th March 2010 Andy, Rob Buckland & EYSO conducted by Russell Cowieson,  gave the World Premiere.

 

Andy writes "I'm very grateful to Russell for making the whole project happen, and also to my great friend Paul Mitchell-Davidson who I asked to write the string parts to add to the original Wind Band score. Paul has decades of experience writing for orchestras and has achieved a fantastic balance between the woodwind, brass, percussion and strings. The World Premiere at Greyfriars Kirk was something special; the University Orchestra played with energy and passion, and the sound that the strings added to the original Wind Band version was amazing! A huge thnk you to everyone that played, who was involved organising and who supported this concert. Rob & I had great fun playing, and the audience reaction was fantastic!"
