In his time as a student at the Conservatory he was a founder member of the D.I.T. Big Band and Saxophone Quartet. He was also on member of the Irish Youth Jazz Orchestra under it's then director, prominent Irish jazz trombonist, Bobby Lamb.

He participated in many classical and jazz masterclasses, most notably at the Brereton Summer School in England and at the prestigious Mozarteum Summer School in Salzburg, Austria with saxophonist Eugene Rousseau from Indiana University. He has also studied privately with French saxophonist Jean -Yves Fourmeau.

A versatile performer, he plays in a variety of styles and is very much in demand as a freelance player throughout Ireland. He is a member of the contemporary music group Electro Acoustic Revue (EAR) and is a lifetime member of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain.

In 2000 he formed a soprano saxophone and organ duo with D.I.T. colleague Anne Leahy and performed at major organ festivals in Dublin, Galway and Italy, where they premiered the piece "Morning Star" - a work they both commissioned from Irish composer Eiblish Farrell with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland.

Recent projects include the RTE television "People in Need" live broadcast, recording with Irish folk singer Tommy Fleming, the Irish Premier of "The Snowman" at the SFX Theatre in Dublin, the Irish Premier of "Singing in the Rain" in Dublin's Temple Bar and "Oliver!" at the Helix Theatre. He is currently performing with the on stage band at the Olympia Theatre in Ireland's new the sell-out comedy musical "I Keano" written by Arthur Matthews and Paul Woodfull.

He plays baritone saxophone with the Dave Gold Big Band which last year toured Ireland promoting the Frank Sinatra songbook and features leading Irish jazz musicians, pianist Jim Doherty and guitarist, Louis Stewart.

In the near future he hopes to record two compositions both for string trio, saxophone and tape by Irish- based German composer David Stalling, which were performed at the Hugh Lane Gallery last year and a transcription of the Cimerosa Oboe Concerto for soprano saxophone and string ensemble in Bulgaria with conductor Derek Gleeson later this year.

He lists Arranging, Orchestration, Jazz History and Music Technology among his many interests and has in recent years completed the U.C.L.A. "Scoring for T.V. and Film" composers program in Dublin with funding from Screen Training Ireland - the first time this program was given outside the USA.
